Following his excellent performance in Kelowna, he was drafted by the Everett Silvertips 7th overall during the 2013 WHL Bantam Draft. For a season, he led the team to 88 points and 44 goals, which helped them win the BC Hockey Major Midget League (BCMML).

Tyson began his professional career with the Colorado Avalanche. He made his NHL debut with a 2–1 shootout victory over the St. Louis Blues. After missing eight games due to a lower-body injury, he soon left the NHL.
